Lyric is placed deep in the ear canal, adjacent to the eardrum, where sound is captured naturally. It uses the ear's natural shape to channel sound, which it amplifies with ground-breaking microprocessor technology. Programmed to the users' specific needs, this is how it can produce exceptionally clear, natural sound.

Lyric is worn constantly through all daily activities including exercising, showering, making phone calls and sleeping. Think of them as a 24 hour hearing solution! There are not batteries to change, no daily maintenance required and no daily removal and reinsertion. You can forget it is there and go about your life. The device will be replaced by your audiologist every two to three months.

Lyric is made of a soft material that is designed to contour to your ear canal. You may be aware of Lyric for a short period of time after fitting, however you will find that after a short amount of time you will have no sensation that you are wearing anything. All Lyric devices are handmade, rather than mass produced, to ensure best comfort.

When Lyric releases an update, members get the new version the next time they come in to have fresh units fitted. You will always be enjoying the very latest Lyric technology.

Yes. The SoundLync device contains a special magnet that can be used to fine tune the volume, activate on/off and sleep settings, as required. Because Lyric fits so snugly in your ear, turning off the device can have a great noise cancelling effect. For example, when you’re trying to sleep in a noisy environment or on a plane etc. The noise cancelling effect is also great for those that suffer from tinnitus.

Lyric can’t fall out. Lyric is placed precisely by a trained Lyric audiologist and held in there by the ears natural contours. If the device feels loose, please contact your Lyric specialist.

Yes. In case you need to remove the invisible hearing device, all of our Lyric users are given a removal tool by their audiologist which is built into the SoundLync remote key chain.

Lyric users can use external headphones, talk on the phone and use external hearing protection with Lyric. However, wearers should avoid generic inserted earbuds or earplugs as they may dislodge the Lyric devices. Custom made attachments for inserted earbuds or earplugs are available from your Lyric provider. 

Yes. Children can use Lyric as long as their ear canal is the minimum size required for optimal fitting. However, due to the initial adjustment phase, Lyric is not recommended for children under 16.

Yes. However, you will need a swimming plug. You will be given a custom-made swim plug at no charge when subscribing to Lyric. Not only is it is suitable for swimming, but it also reduces ambient noise exposure, e.g. white noise when flying etc. 

Lyric is not compatible with SCUBA diving as the pressure changes experienced can cause the unit to shift, creating discomfort.  

Yes, as long as the cabin is pressurised.

No, the components are too small to set off metal detectors or cause problems through security checks and airport scans.  

Tinnitus is often heard as a buzzing noise or ringing in your ears. It can develop gradually or suddenly and can be quite challenging to live with.

Tinnitus is often connected to some level of hearing loss. Enhancing the perception of external noise can often provide relief from the sound of Tinnitus. As Lyric is the only hearing device you can wear 24/7, it may relieve some of the symptoms commonly associated with Tinnitus.

The cost of Lyric will depend on your individual hearing needs. Lyric is provided on a membership basis for $12.00 per day as part of Triton Hearing's Pay As You Hear subscription service. This includes the Government subsidies, but ACC funding may be available. This fee includes appointments to change and refresh the Lyric units and ensures you always have access to the latest updates.

Most wearers will have their Lyric units replaced 4-6 times per year.

Your initial consultation, sizing, fitting and programming will take approximately 75 minutes. If you have not had a professional ear wax removal appointment recently, please ensure that this is done before your Lyric appointment.

Follow-up Lyric placement visits take approximately 20 minutes.
